Records first mention it in 1494. Count Mikhail Vorontsov owned the estate from 1819, and from that era you can still see the Church of the Transfiguration (1830–1840, architect Giorgio Torricelli) and a Catholic church from 1857. Torricelli mixed Tudor Gothic with Eastern motifs in the Transfiguration church.
The Moshnohirskyi Ridge runs next to the village: glacial hills up to 204 metres covered in deciduous forest. Pine forests grow on the sandy terrace north of the Vilshanka river. In spring corydalis and scilla carpet the forest floor, and in autumn the leaves turn yellow, which makes it the best time for walks.

Riverwood Relax Park is a countryside retreat surrounded by pine forest in the scenic Cherkasy region, designed for a peaceful and comfortable escape into nature.
Moshny is an old village in the Cherkasy region, not far from the Dnipro and the city of Cherkasy. It is surrounded by pine woods and the deciduous forests of the Moshnohirskyi Ridge, a band of hills of glacial origin. In the 19th century Moshny belonged to Count Mikhail Vorontsov, and from that era the village keeps the Church of the Transfiguration, designed by the architect Giorgio Torricelli, and a Catholic church. Taras Shevchenko also visited Moshny. Today people come here for peace and quiet, fresh air and time in the forest.
Moshny works in any season. In spring the forest floor is covered with early flowers such as corydalis and scilla. In summer the shade of the pine woods keeps the heat at bay, and the lakes and the Dnipro are not far away. Autumn, when the leaves on the hills turn yellow, is the best time for walks. Winter is calm and cosy, with snowy forest trails followed by a sauna and spa. Moshny is an easy weekend break from Kyiv or Cherkasy.
The easiest route is via Cherkasy, which Ukrzaliznytsia trains serve from Kyiv and other cities, as do buses. From Cherkasy you can continue to Moshny by bus or taxi. Driving is convenient from both Kyiv and Cherkasy, and the resort has free on-site parking.
Riverwood Relax SPA is the Riverwood Relax Park countryside retreat set in pine forest. Its spacious grounds hold a modern spa hotel, private chalets, lakes and landscaped parkland. Guests unwind in the spa centre with a sauna and massage, relax by the summer outdoor pool or simply walk among the pines. The resort’s restaurants serve signature cuisine, and the beer comes from its own brewery. For an active stay there is tennis, cycling and fishing, and families get kids’ and play areas, workshops and entertainment. The resort has a 24-hour front desk and a gym, and small pets are welcome by prior arrangement with the hotel.
In the village itself, see the Church of the Transfiguration, where Torricelli blended Tudor Gothic with Eastern motifs, and the 19th-century Catholic church. The forest trails of the Moshnohirskyi Ridge are great for walking and cycling, especially in spring and autumn. For a day trip, head to Cherkasy on the Dnipro or to Kaniv, where Taras Shevchenko is buried on Taras Hill.
Moshny is a village, so it helps to have everything at hand in the evenings and at weekends: most guests eat and relax right at the country complex. Bring comfortable shoes for forest walks and, in summer, repellent against mosquitoes and ticks. Paths in the Moshny hills branch off in many directions, so check a map or ask at reception before you set out. A country break near Kyiv and Cherkasy is popular at weekends, on public holidays and in summer, so book rooms and chalets for those dates early. For trips to Kaniv or Cherkasy, your own car is the easiest option.
Take a train or bus to Cherkasy, the nearest railway station, 35 km away. Then cover the 30 km along the R10 road by bus, taxi or car.
Torricelli's Church of the Transfiguration, the 1857 Catholic church and a wooden hospital from 1894 designed by Władysław Horodecki. The house where Taras Shevchenko stayed in 1859 also survives.
It's a 27 km band of glacial hills up to 204 m high along the Vilshanka river. Deciduous forest covers it, and part of the area is a protected reserve.
April–May, when corydalis and scilla bloom in the forest, and September–October for the autumn colours. In summer you can combine forest walks with a trip to the Dnipro.
