Koson and the Kosyno thermal complex

Koson is a village in Berehove district of Zakarpattia region, close to the Hungarian border. Next to it is the Kosyno thermal complex, the main reason people come: warm open-air pools, saunas and time out in an old oak grove. The Berehove area is known for thermal springs, vineyards, wine cellars and Hungarian culture, so a trip here pairs well with tastings and a walk around Berehove's historic centre.

When to go

The thermal pools are open all year, so there's no season in the usual sense. In winter you soak in warm water while the air is cold, spring and autumn bring fewer people, and in summer the complex also runs an aquapark. Demand peaks over the New Year holidays, school breaks and long weekends, so book those dates early. Autumn is grape harvest time around Berehove and a good moment for a wine route.

How to get there

Ukrzaliznytsia trains run to Mukachevo and Chop, and from there you can reach the village by bus or taxi. By car, drive from Mukachevo via Berehove, or from Chop along the road towards Berehove.
